Editor's Note

In our fast-paced world, sometimes we undervalue the importance of slowing down, taking a step back to recenter, or reflecting. I encourage you to seek out and prioritize that downtime; recharging and reflecting are important parts of productivity. As always, I hope this week's issue brings a little joy and hope to your day.

Positivity in Practice

Downtime is Productive...

Okay, I'll be the one to say it...breaks are productive. I can hear the gasping even as I write this, but it is true. Just like every other muscle in the body, your brain needs the opportunity to rest, relax, and recharge. Sleep is an essential part of that process, but so is taking breaks during the day.

Taking a break when you need one, like taking a walk, switching your focus, meditating, or even staring into space for a bit, is a healthy and vital part of being productive. So here is your challenge: don't fit your breaks this week. If you are working on something and feel the need to step away or take a break, do it. Don't judge or beat yourself up; just take a break and let your brain rest. When you're done, you'll likely find that solution you need is a lot easier to find.

Email us and let us know how it goes. We may feature you in a future issue.

A promising cancer treatment made in Lansing with particle accelerators

Actinium-225 is a silvery metal isotope that barely exists on Earth. It's also an incredibly promising cancer treatment, but researchers don't know its full potential because there isn't enough of it for large-scale clinical trials.

A Lansing company aims to fix that. Niowave has begun producing actinium-225 using a superconducting linear accelerator in a facility less than a mile from the state Capitol.
