Editor's Note

All too often, our news, social media feeds, and even our conversations with friends and family are centered around anxiety-filling and rage-inducing content. It can be so difficult to believe good things happen every day when the things reported or shared are examples of the worst humanity has to offer.

That’s why we started Real Positive Vibes. We wanted to create a haven inside your inbox to share some good news with you. We hope that while you read our newsletter, you can recharge and feel refreshed.

Positivity in Practice

Put your mask on first, then help someone else

If you have ever been on an airplane, you've probably heard the safety presentation about what to do if the oxygen masks drop. "Put the mask on yourself first and then assist someone else." This instruction applies to parents with children, caregivers, and others we would naturally expect to help someone else before themselves. The reason is simple enough; you can't effectively help someone else if you aren't in a good position yourself.

So please allow me to be your self-care and mental wellness attendant today. As much as we want to be helpful and put them first, we have to have something to give something. So make sure you prioritize filling up your cup first. You will be in a much better place to help someone else if you aren't emotionally or mentally empty. So that's your homework this week: put yourself first. I know it is easier said than done sometimes, but I want you to try. see how much better you feel when you don't aren't on E the next time you have to give of yourself. I guarantee you'll get much farther.

Email us and let us know how it goes. We may feature you in a future issue.
