All too often, our news, social media feeds, and even our conversations with friends and family are centered around anxiety-filling and rage-inducing content. It can be so difficult to believe good things happen every day when the things reported or shared are examples of the worst humanity has to offer.
That’s why we started Real Positive Vibes. We wanted to create a haven inside your inbox to share some good news with you. We hope that while you read our newsletter, you can recharge and feel refreshed.
About Us
From the Darkness Come the Light
So often, in the wake of tragedy, our response is to grieve or withdraw into ourselves. These parents who suffered the ultimate loss, the death of their young daughter, turned their grief into an opportunity to bring light into the world. These parents created Maggie Lee for Good Day and Maggie Lee's Closet and Little Clothesline to honor Maggie’s life with charity and goodwill toward their neighbors. This story is inspiring because of the continuing good work being done every day. But, more importantly, these parents took an incredible step to see outside of themselves during one of their darkest moments and now are a beacon of kindness and hope in their community.
Unexpected Blooms
Have you ever been in a pay-it-forward line at a drive-thru or coffee shop? Wasn’t it nice to be told that your order was covered? How about keeping the chain going and paying for the order behind you? Florists across the country decided to add to that nice feeling by creating Petal It Forward. Participating florists give away thousands of bouquets to their communities to share a little joy. Without question, the joy and enjoyment brought on by the gesture lasted long after the flowers had wilted.
Butterflies of Kindness
Do little acts of kindness really make a difference? Children at a school in Virginia are making a strong case for it. Their school started a program called Raise Craze, where they focus on performing little acts of kindness for those around them. But unlike other programs that can often prioritize how being nice might make you feel, this program teaches children to see and respect the humanity and dignity in those around them. So their acts of kindness are truly focused on how to best appreciate and help the receiver, not on its effect on the giver. We could all learn a lot from these kids and their enthusiasm for helping others.
