Editor's Note

All too often, our news, social media feeds, and even our conversations with friends and family are centered around anxiety-filling and rage-inducing content. It can be so difficult to believe good things happen every day when the things reported or shared are examples of the worst humanity has to offer.

That’s why we started Real Positive Vibes. We wanted to create a haven inside your inbox to share some good news with you. We hope that while you read our newsletter, you can recharge and feel refreshed.

Positivity in Practice

Trying to keep up with the joneses in life doesn't make you happier

Let's be honest with ourselves, there are things that we have or are the best at and things that others have or are the best at. And it is those differences that life and interactions interesting and worthwhile.

Where we mess up is constantly comparing ourselves to others and diminishing ourselves because we aren't identical. Don't fall into that trap, it isn't worth it. While it is true that there will always be someone with more than you or doing something that you wish you could do, that isn't any reason to delight in what you do have less.

Moreover what is right for someone else may not be right for you, so wanting and getting what they have isn't even a guarantee that it will make you happier. The grass may appear greener in your neighbors yard, but is that because you haven't watered your own? My friend, I encourage to spend your time nurturing the things that you do have and pursuing your own dreams. Because when you choose joy for yourself, you can also help others find it. And I think we can all agree that a bit more joy would make our world a much better place.

Email us and let us know how you bring a little positivity to your life. We would love to hear it and we may feature you in a future issue.
